Step 5 of “Devising Strategies” is based on Nehemiah 6:11-13. Nehemiah recognizes an attempt to ruin his good name. He wants to obey the Law and not sin (fears God) rather than run and hide.
I didn’t know the speculation that Nehemiah was a eunuch? Did you?
Are you beyond being manipulated today? Explain. How is your credibility as a teacher put on the line Sunday after Sunday?

Hi Dillon,
I don't think there is a direct reference to Nehemiah as a eunuch. It's only suggested from his role as cupbearer (Neh 1:11b).
I'm excited about a new year, too!

I have been reading up on Mesopotamian history. As many inscriptions show, most of the people surrounding the king were eunuchs, since they were beardless and everyone else wore beards.
However, the Persians were from the upper Persian Gulf area, near but not in Mesopotamia. Perhaps their traditions were a bit different. I plan to look into their history further, but they were less developed than Babylon and Nineveh, before conquering Babylon. So their evidence might be sparse or nonexistent.
By the way, wasn't Daniel probably a Eunuch, too?
Paul,
I'm no expert on Daniel, but I don't think there is any direct evidence in the Bible that Daniel was an Eunuch. To the contrary, do you think Ezekiel 14:20 could imply that Daniel had children?
