Handy learner handout

Mark Cimijotti posted a lesson plan for “Conform to God’s Agenda” that includes a two-page learner handout. Cool! Mark is a single-adult teacher at Carmel Baptist Church.

Given their potential influence and usefulness, I’m still wondering why more teachers and church leaders don’t publish their own Internet version of a weekly lesson plan?

Well, I share my notes *after*. I'm not organized enough to do it ahead of time. :P

I share teaching duties since we have a big class and the presentation is somewhat formal. My last lesson, for instance, is posted here: http://chasingthewind.net/2008/10/05/the-many-ways-we-disobey/

Thanks for posting Michael. My perspective is that your notes are still very valuable after you teach the lesson. Why?

It seems that not everyone is on the same schedule, so other "late comers" find your notes and make use of them. At least that is my experience when I post PPT slides.

And the notes become a future resource that can be searched for similar ideas or teaching points.

Thanks for posting...

Sorry for the delay in response - it's hard to keep track of a comment once it's posted. :P

I find your notes and commentary helpful for the teacher. I hope my notes are helpful for the learner. I spend 10-16 hours per lesson studying and boil it down to a 30 minute presentation. It's a shame that that preparation stops there, so I post it to my blog and to the Christian Carnival for wide read.

God's lesson doesn't always follow Lifeway's plan (or my own, for some reason). I've had comments posted 4 years after I've posted a lesson. Somebody's seeking, and I hope these notes serve as signposts along the way to God's Word.

By the way, we're almost neighbors. I used to live in Spring and I attended Champion Forest Baptist in the old location in that neghborhood a couple of times. I teach at Second Baptist on Woodway.

MIchael, I'm not familiar with the Christian Carnival, but I hope your notes get feedback from readers. Very difficult to know what's useful without it.

Thank the Lord for 2nd's witness in Houston.

The Christian Carnival consists of the week's best Christian blogging. The hosts rotate and is entirely voluntary. Last week's host for issue #249 is here: http://www.deepbiblestudy.net/?p=490 . My Lifeway lesson on "Responding to Loss" is listed in there somewhere. Anybody can submit a Christian link, so I'd encourage bloggers to submit their best weekly post. Not only does it spread the word a little further, but it also helps with blog traffic. Submission instructions for next week's Christian Carnival are at http://parablemania.ektopos.com/archives/2008/11/christiancarn250.html
